We offer customized Tuscany wine tours. Our services include tours of principal Tuscany wineries including Dievole and Verrazzano Florence wine tours.
We can organize both individual and group tours: you can hire a car with a personal driver for going to Chianti wineries as well as taking you on exclusive gourmet tours, Tuscany Wine Tasting and any of our other tours in Tuscany and Florence.

Antinori wine cellar of Passignano

The Antinori family owns the vineyards all around the Abbey from which "Chianti Classico Riserva di Badia a Passignano" is produced. The wine is aged in the cellars under the monastery.
In order to have people taste and learn about the wines produced in the Antinori estates, in 1995 a small shop was opened just outside the Abbey: the Bottega of Passignano.
In 2000 the restaurant "Osteria di Passignano" was opened together with Marcello Crini , deep connoiusseur and enthusiast of Tuscan eno-gastronomic culture, so that to have people understand and enjoy the area, its traditions, its passions and wines through Marcello's great cooking.

We are happy to inform you about the initiatives of the Tavern of Passignano and the winery of Abbey for next season 2005.

HISTORY AND PLACE

Badia di Passignano, located in the heart of the Chianti Classico countryside, is an old abbey founded in 395 A.D. by the Archbishop of Florence. Monks of the Vallombrosian Order still live in the abbey and are the keepers of its cultural and historical treasures.

Since the Medieval age, the Abbey and the Order have been particularly famous because of the Monk's devotion to classical literature and musical texts, for their scientific research promotion (Galileo Galilei taught here in 1587) and for their taking care of the land through cultivation especially of vines and forest.

I could talk for long about our wine list. About the choices made thinking of "that winemaker" and of his rows of vines full of bunches of grapes or of a producer friend who sitting at a table observes the color of his wine through the glass, satisfied and at the same time already thinking about the next vintage, or thinking of myself standing on the edge of a slope beholding the perfect nature of the vineyard.
My passion has always guided me in the choice of the wines I present: I am certain that among the pages of the Osteria's wine list you will find, as I have, a wine to fall in love with.

ANTINORI OILS

Smooth lies and delicious paradoxes float around extra virgin olive oil and the rhetoric surrounding it. Technical notions used for commercial propaganda, advertising slogans full of techno-theoretical amenities, labels of denomination of origin used like collecting stamps, hugely diverging schools of thought and of tasting, cliche and enduring popular myths; all these contribute to making the world of extra virgin olive oil confusing and varied, where it easily happens that quality can remain undiscovered in spite of sensory evidence and, on the other hand, a products look can determine its success, often in ways which seem unexplainable.

They propose you some activity and opportunity for better appreciate one of the best Tuscany restaurants, were you can taste and eat sorrounded by an ancient atmosphere mixed with a top-level class standard for a restaurant .

1) Visits to the Passignano Abbey historical wine cellar take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 3.30 p.m.. Small groups are accepted. Duration is of approximately one hour and includes a four Antinori different wine tasting. The visit is either in Italian or in English language, as well as the tasting.

2) Afternoon course of cookery : the lessons in English language begin at 3.30 p.m. and consist in the preparation, together with our chefs, of a Tuscany typical menu. The lesson's end is scheduled for the 5.30/6.00 p.m., when everybody will return to his lodging and will then come back, at about 8.00 p.m., for tasting the dishes prepared by them themselves. Every dish will be matched to a wine. This practice takes place on Wednesdays.

3) Extraordinary Opening (15th March - 31st October) of the wine cellar all Sundays from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.: you will be able to taste cheeses produced here, together with "salumi" combined with oils and wines.

4) Courses of extra virgin olive oil tasting. This practice takes place every week on Fridays, from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. and includes: a general course on the olive oil with special emphasis on varieties of Italian qualities, one tasting of three Italians qualities, and three Tuscany ones. The course will supervised by our chefs for a minimum number of six persons.

5) All the afternoons from 3 to 7 p.m. you can taste three wines among the eight selected for you. Every afternoon from 6 to 7.30 p.m. there is a "happy wine", waiting supper time with our apertives and "stuzzichini".

• Wine and food Education, on Fridays at lunch time: our chefs and wine stewards will take you through food and wine savours and scents. The idea is born to choose a wine according to a dish. The duration is of approximately three hours from the 12.30 to 3.30 p.m. and is comprehensive of a lunch, a wine and a visit to the Wine cellars. You can ask for a package that includes, apart from the above purpose, a lunch and/or supper at the Tavern at a special price.

As far as the restaurant is concerned, the prices oscillate around € 50 for a complete meal, but you can even find tasting menus for 6 persons at € 45 (drinks excluded ) or small tasting menus for 3 persons at € 30 (drinks excluded ).

We would like to inform you that since March 14th until the October 31st the Bottega di Badia and the next Torchio room will remain open every Sunday from 10.30 a.m. until 6.30 p.m. for selling products, wine tastings, cellar visits, small restaurant service (cold meats from "Bruciato", cheeses, bruschetta, biscuits etc), and olive oil tastings.
